Ayurveda is a traditional system of medicine that has its roots in ancient India. The word "Ayurveda" is derived from the Sanskrit words "ayur," meaning life, and "veda," meaning knowledge or science. Therefore, Ayurveda can be translated as the "science of life" or the "knowledge of life." Ayurveda is considered as one of the oldest traditional medicinal systems which is accepted worldwide and has flourished from the ages till date.

Dravyaguna is a fast-growing branch of Ayurveda which deals with the properties of herbs (drugs). Dravya means drugs, a substance which possesses Guna (properties).
